In July this year we moved to Roosevelt, Utah so that Cory could go to work in the Oilfields. This was our first Christmas away from family, since Gpa and Gma Slade are in a mission in Japan, which was a little sad. It was rough not being around family, but we have our family and we still had an enjoyable holiday season.

and Ashton all got to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas at the Ward Christmas Party.
We did get to see some of the extended family when we pulled together a last minute Slade Christmas get together. Me and my family had to go to Utah County to do some shopping and met my Brothers Joe and Ryan and their families for dinner. Every year my mom makes a lot of homemade goodies and when they are done she has a house cookie jar that she puts them in and then sends a message to everyone saying visitors welcome. Since she was in Japan this year I was sad to not see that tradition, but my sis-in-law Kathi who is so talented and thoughtful put together this gift above. She bought each family a cookie jar house just like moms and used her recipes to fill the houses with the traditional homemade treats. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gift. It was like having a little bit of my mom there. It meant a lot to me! It was such a cute idea.
A Christmas Eve Tradition is usually decorating a gingerbread house with Dad, but this year we found a box of four gingerbread men so the kids each got to decorate their own man.
